Web technology is fantastic by itself,
but truly interactive projects raise the bar even higher.
The advent of Macromedia Director and Flash have allowed
design to jump and move. What were flat presentations
before, have a life of their own without the need of
professional animators, expensive photographic equipment,
or Steven Speilberg. It is still a beast to be tamed
however, and many are still struggling with how best
to use this new technology.
One of the biggest hurdels of Multimedia is how to best
strucutre the project so that anyone can use it. Whereas
traditional print materials have had their usability
issues set for hundreds of years, interactive projects
are still in a period of study. "Experts" in the feild
preach all sorts of ideas on how best to cater to every
single need a user may have. I have always felt however
that simple design principles that are used in all media
are what works best in presenting a CD-ROM or an online
presentation. Just as there is a dnager of underthinking
a project, there is a great risk in overthinking a project
as well.
I enjoy using Flash the most, but it comes with it's
own limitiations. Unfortunatley not everyone can access
a Flash player. If you do not have Flash installed -
you will not be able to view most of the projects listed.
Please click on the icon below to download the FREE
Flash player to your computer. If you have never had
it, you don't know what you have missed.
